Started my civil service career as an instructor at the Faculty of Education, Ramkamhaeng University, Bangkok, Thailand. The university was the first open university designated to serve open opportunity for Thai fast emerging middle-class offspring, who the more traditional institutions of higher learning could not accommodate. I had worked at Ramkamhaeng University for 7 years, which then included spending 4 years at the University of Oklahoma for my Ph.D. Program.

In 1980

Asked for permission to be transferred to the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, to work for the Department of Higher Education, which was more appropriate to my academic training and life goals. I had worked at Chulalongkorn University, at the same time serving in various administrative positions as well as practicing my professional career as educational consultant, innovator and writer as well.

Achievement Experiences

1989 – 1992 - As the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Chulalongkorn University, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Charas Suwanwela, The President, have created or proposed the followings:

Introducing Loan without interest for staff members to buy PCs, in order to promote “Computer Literacy” through self-learning at home.

Proposing extending the service time of the Central Library from the formerly closing time of 17.00 o’clock to 21.00 o’clock. It was determined to make the University Library to be opened till midnight.

Proposing “Inquiry Learning Strategy and Curriculum Development for Chulalongkorn University”. The project has the document of 27 pages introducing the master plan for academic development at Chulalongkorn University.

Proposing “Modern Student Evaluation” lead by Prof. Dr. Utumporn Chamornmarn, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge - UCLES. It is the first step of “Quality Assurance for Higher Education” at Chulalongkorn University.

Promoting “CAI - Computer Assisted Instruction Project” directed and managed by Prof. Dr. Chalerm Varavit, and Dr. Pison Chutrakul, from the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

Promoting “English Language Testing” by the Language Institute, Chulalongkorn University. It was aimed to develop the high standard of English testing equivalent to TOEFL.

Promoting “Computer Proficiency Testing” creating a task force lead by Assoc. Prof. Somchai Tayanyong from the Computer Center, Chulalongkorn University, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Sukree Rodpothong from the Department of Educational Technology, the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.

Promoting “Child Creativity” lead by Associate Prof. Dr. Prasarn Malakul Na Ayuthaya, a distinguished educational psychologist, formerly, the dean of the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.

Promoting Human Resource Development through “Continuing Education Activities” with Associate Prof. Dr. Wanchai Rijiravanich, Director of the Continuing Education Center, Chulalongkorn University.

Director, the Computer Center for Education and Development CCED, Chulalongkorn University, creating as an example of “reengineered unit within the university” establishing the autonomous computer center without directly spending the university budget.
